Training today’s teenagers to be tomorrow’s leaders

Teenagers in grades 7 through 12 are invited to learn more about community participation through membership in Assisteens(R), an auxiliary of Assistance League of Santa Clarita. While learning valuable leadership skills, this group selects their own philanthropic projects and raises the funds necessary to implement them.

A philanthropic project of the auxiliary is “I Care About Me“. Assisteens recognize that personal grooming plays an important role in the success of an individual. To help low-income families with such personal care items, Assisteens put together a health care kit, filling it with items such as toothpaste, tooth brush, comb, and soap and give the kits to the children receiving clothing and shoes as part of the Operation School Bell program.

The teens also host a party every year for the residents of LARC Ranch. They plan and organize the event which includes a theme, activity, music, dancing and refreshments for all of the residents.

Assisteens hold a year-round sale of water bottles and organize an annual fundraiser to acquire funds needed to purchase items for the health care kits.

Assisteens membership opportunities begin at the start of each school year and conclude on October 31st. For more information on the auxiliary and how to join, contact us at alsc@email.com.
